I need to work on a customer backup from a Legend R2 before converting to a Magix R3. I've read about surrogate mode with WinSPM, but I do not find instructions anywhere on how to utilize. I understand that I need to have a carrier/processor, as well as direct connection, which I have. So I have the backup file and all the hardware necessary, what do I need to do to program this file in "surrogate mode?

You need to do a master clear on the processor, convert the backup file if necessary, then restore the backup file to the processor. Then just program as if it were the live system.

Hey TTT, I've done the backup, convert, and have attempted the restore but it is aborted because of a "board mismatch 4"... Now, I haven't done a complete reset of the processor as you suggest, maybe this is what I'm missing. Thanks!

Could you describe a "master clear" on a processor for a Magix 3.0? I recently did a backup/convert/restore from a Magix 2.1 to a 3.0 system, and the first time, it worked fine. Now, if I try to restore from the same file, it aborts, with a 'cancel request' error, even though I didn't ask it to abort... I think I might need to clear the processor and reload?
Thanks!

If you need this, email me and explain who you are and why you need it.

Using this "MASTER CLEAR" will completely default a system, therefore, we do not hand it out without a "NEED TO KNOW"...
