I am looking for a solution to protect my IPO modules & phones from electrical surges. We have a 400' underground 24 pair cable running from our main building to an auxiliary building running 9508 handsets, and a few analog ports going to a Bogen amplifier connected to horn speakers.
We also have another site with 900' underground run to our guard shack. Also running 9508 handsets.
Over the last year we have lost two DS30 modules and have had several analog ports go out on our combo cards. The source seems to always be from our auxiliary buildings. We are assuming it is from lightning.
I have spoken to a few vendors in my area and they have recommended IROB surge protectors or DITEK. I am having a hard time making heads or tails on which we should purchase as the voltage varies per device and from what I can tell needs to match the IP Office unit and the handset.
Does anyone have any recommendations on what we should use for surge protection, or possibly where I can find information about proper voltage for these handsets?
