Tough one to explain this one! But here goes....

I've created a summary report containing 3 different groups, within each group there is some summary information that the user can drill down on.

In order to display the report in a way that will make sense to the end user I've selected the "keep group together" option.

The report looked fine until I added lines to the report in order to divide up all the relevent bits of information.

Due to keeping the groups together, there is often some blank space at the bottom of each page, this space doesn't form part of any of the normal sections of the report, and its not possible to right click on it and format it in anyway. BUT everytime this section appears on a page the top 1/2 cm or so contains the lines I inserted to divide the groups!

If anyone else has experianced a similar problem there help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm using CR8.

Cheers

I assume that these are vertical lines.
Where exactly are the top and bottom end points of these lines. Ken Hamady

Yes they are vertical.

The line runs from the bottom of Group Footer 1 up to the top of the details section Cheers

Kind of found a work round by drawing individual lines in each section of the report, but I'm sure the must be a better way!!! Cheers

Typically, a vertical line should begin and end in corresponding sections. So I would try from the bottom of the GH to the top of the GF. Ken Hamady

If I do that for what ever reason the line now fills the entire blank section, and goes all the way to the page footer. Looks like I'm stuck with trying to align seperate lines in each section with the magnification set to 400%! Cheers

Marc,

Are you sure you used Group Header to Group Footer (Not Page header/footer).
I just did this with my own report and it works fine.
I did both V7 and V8.
What version are you using? Ken Hamady

No its group header to group footer, and its from the mid-point in each of these sections, so there's no danger that the line is outside either section.

It does have to pass through the header and footer of two subsequent groups, will that make a difference?

I'm using V8 Cheers

Oh, your keep together is not on the same group level as the line. Yes, then you will have to draw the lines separately. That white space isn't a section, but is the blank spot on the page that is left by the section that is pushed to the next page. Ken Hamady
