supress a letter

I have a report that needs certain things in teh details section supressed. I am trying to create a mail merge type letter from those details. the issue i am having is it returns letters for all people, inlcuding those i have supressed in teh details section. I can't use teh selection expert due to what I am supressing. Anyone know of how i can get letters for those i need?

Assuming the Letters are Grouped by Person, you can use Group suppression. Using same rules as you have for suppressin details, try to find a way to Suppress the Person group too.

Please provided examples of layout and how you are suppressing details.

I tried doing that and none of the letters come up. The letter is in the group footer. I created a formula for all the things i wanted supressed and then in the details section i supressed anything that formula detected as "supress"

the issue is i can't use any of these in the selection expert because of my prior value formula.
