Suppressing record when subreport is empty

I have a crystal6 report that accesses an oracle db. This report uses a subreport linked by the equipment record which is the only field available to link on. I have the subreport suppressing if the item field is null but the equipment record still shows up and takes up space on the report. Is there any way of suppressing this entire record if the subreport is blank or suppressed. TIA

If you go into the section expert 9right click on the section and click details), you can go to the specific section, and where it says suppress don't check it, but on the ight side click on formula. Use an Isnull formula in there and you should be set.
