I wish to suppress the printing of two Groups if a calculated variable is equal to zero (@Pending). How can I keep GH1 and GH2 from printing if my @Pending < 0??

It depends on what @Pending is doing, but the suppression is controlled through the conditional button next to the Suppress item in the Section Format screen.
If @Pending is calculated at that point then you would just use the expression:
@pending < 0
in the conditional suppression button for each header section.

You can't suprress a group header using some value that emerges or is calculated while the detail lines are being printed. This applies to running totals. Summary ttoals are based directly on the data and you can use them to modify or suppress the header, as lupins46 said.

It helps to give your Crystal version, since newer versions have extra solutions, and some extra problems. I use Crystal 8.5
