Hi, I am running a macro from a batch file that inserts data into a table (about 50 records)

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\msaccess.exe" /nostartup "C:\DB\DB.mdb" /Excl /X Update_Stations

is there a switch to suppress the action query popup, I know it can be turned off in the options menu but these DB's have been deployed and i dont want the users having to click ok 50 times or change a setting in access.

thanks

You can use SetWarnings. Make sure to set them back on after you run the queries.

or ... to permanently turn them off, on the menubar:

Tools - Options - Edit/Find Tab. In the [blue]Confirm[/blue] section, uncheck Action queries . . .

This point has occurred before. I consider it a little cruel to change someone's environment, so I would never change an Access Option that will affect every database on the PC.

Users are not suppose to have access to settings in the first place. Surely this is an [blue]admin function![/blue] There's also the possibility of adding future action queries.

I tend to have enough action queries in my db's to the point I set the option by default.

I've never heard or read where anyone complained about [blue]not seeing action query popups![/blue] Quite the opposite (the focus of this thread). Since these popups are such a nuisance, why not get rid of them in one shot! It gets rid of the popups and saves two lines of code per action query/sql.

So ... cruel ... yes I agree. [blue]In content it can be vicious enough to use the word.[/blue]

I do agree that it should be an admin setting [smile]

I also agree with Remou that this shouldn't be a blanket turn off of settings in this fashion, sometimes (though not often) the pop up can be useful, plus it's hard to ever guarentee that someone hasn't coded something somewhere that relies on the use of the pop ups (and while this isn't good, I'm pretty sure there's not a single developer out there that can say every program in their organisation is good [wink]

I can agree that it's fine doing it to your own DB but changing other users settings to match yours for the sake of a few lines of code isn't (in my opinion) a good practice option (but that kind of conversation ranges way beyond the scope of this post [wink]).
