suppress line conditional

I've a vertical line that i want to suppress with a condition.
Unfortunately I don't see the condition option by a line.
When I use an empty textbox, all the other text is moved down.
Is there conditional another suppress option for a line?

Put the line its own section and then conditionally suppress the section.

Also, note that if you use an empty text box, you just need to decrease the height of the box.

how do I know the length of the line in his own section, or is this just 'tryal and error'?

The line is on the second page to short when I only use on the first page a section with some heather information. How can I fixed this.

I don't understand your solution with the text box.

I think I misread your original post. Please explain in what report section you are placing the vertical line, what you want the line to do, and under what conditions you want the line to be suppressed. Can the section in which it is placed have a varying height? Or is it a constant size?
