Hi everyone
I realise this is an old product but I've got a nw3.12 server which has crashed and when reloaded I've lost all supervisor equivalence and the supervisor user account.
Other users which were "supervisor equivalence" are now no longer.
Is there a way of recreating the supervisor equivalence short of a rebuild - We will
be migtating to netware 5.1 in the near future but will need supervisor account to
migrate data

TIA
dave

If you don't have a SUPERVISOR account or there are not anybody who is Security Equal to SUPERVISOR then there is not really a legitimate way of getting this back apart from a rebuild. There may be a utility that can grant this .... anybody know? -----------------------------------------------------

There are some good utilities up on that may help.

Can users still log in? I can give you a crack for the supervisor account to change the password from the server console. Need to give me a place to send it to. This would only help though if you lost your rights and just can't get in as supervisor. But if you can get in as supervisor, then this may not help.

If you have executed BINDFIX at all, you can also recover using the backup files created. It will roll you back to when ever you ran BINDFIX, but it will give you your supervisor rights back.

Here is a good TID that may also help Brent Schmidt CNE, Network +

Why do user go into a panic when a NetWare server goes down, but accept it as normal when a Windows server goes down?

Thanks for your help Brent and "the lad"
All users are able to login and work ok - its just the supervisor user and all supervisor equivalence thats gone - the server is running on very old hardware (dell 486) so its probably about due for hardware change - I'll rebuild the server and restore bindery and data from backup.
I need to be able to login as a supervisor before we can migrate to netware 5 or even win 2000 server

Thanks again

Dave

There is a file called BURGLAR.NLM out there that allows you to create a supervisor equivalent user from the console, and then log in from a PC to use syscon etc.
I've never used it though, so check it out before downloading and using.

Thanks Mark - I've got a copy of Burglar - it works fine fine if you've got the supervisor equivalence - I have lost the supervisor equivalence flag I think so Burglar creates the user but without supervisor equivalence
