I'm trying to create an effect where the subject in a video is talking and I want to add puffs of smoke from his mouth as he talks (to look like he just took a drag of a cigarette). I have a video clip of smoke puffing against a black background, but if I try superimposing it over the clip it darkens the image and it's obvious to anyone that it is being superimposed. Any suggestions?

Try different keying options. If the background is black, then luminance key may give best results.
