I need to have superscripted footnote markers on these columns for some medical reports i am designing. Crystal doesnt handle supersript so instead i have been free-form placing a small text object of the * or # next to text but slightly above it to give the appearance that its superscripted

ie
* #
Column 1 Column 2

This is generally an ok workaround HOWEVER, some of my columns are not fixed length when they are db generated values. ie they can change their width according to the value retrieved.

This means my work around will not work.

Any lateral thinking ideas/solutions would be much appreciated !

Thanks,

Kdawg

You can put several fields or text words into a text object. This includes text with different sizes. Does that help?

It helps to give your Crystal version - 8, 8.5, 9, 10, 11 or whatever. Methods sometimes change between versions, and higher versions have extra options. In this case, it probably makes no difference.

You could add the fields that precede the symbols to the text box (before the symbol). Then select the fields and change the font to white (or the paper color). The symbol will then always be in the correct position.

Madawc,

sorry about that Verson 11.

Lbass once again you come through with the goods. Good lateral thinking there !

Many thanks

You can also create a formula with your db field and the HTML code "<SMALL>*</SMALL>" appended to the end. Then, when the formula field is added to the report, right click, select Format Field, select the Paragraph tab and set Text interpretation to "HTML Text".

This will work for the * since it is already raised above the font base line. With the # it will only make it smaller than the font set for the formula field.
