I went through my Data Source Manager and set up a system ODBC connection to my SQL server. I ran the SQL Server Data Source Test and I got "TESTS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!" But this doesn't mean that I have a dbase set up in SQL correct? I then exported a table in Access 2000 to my new connection and nothing happens. How do I know if I have successfully exported my table? I have been working on this for about 3 weeks now and nobody at my workplace knows anything about SQL or Access for that matter. Our IT guy is just a part time IT guy who does drafting 90% of the time so he isn't much help. Any help would be great.

Thanks

Bartender:Hey aren't you that rope I threw out an hour ago?

Rope:No, I'm afraid knot.

All that you have done so far is create a connection and possibly have created a table in an unknown database. Go ahead and open up SQL Server Enterprise Manager. You will see a few system DBs like Master, Model, MSDB and TempDB. Then there will be 3 default DBs called pubs and Northwind.

OK ... right mouse click on the database tab and create a database.

Now try your Access import into this new DB. Lets see how far you get w/ that.

May need to take a look at BOL (Books OnLine) that comes w/ SQL Server. You will find most of the answers to your SQL Server questions.

Thanks

And here's information on the BOL:

BOL=Books OnLine=Microsoft SQL Server's HELP
Installed as part of the Client Tools
Found at Start>Programs>Microsoft SQL Server>Books OnLine
