I've got a machine who's IP was changed back in June, but we've recently noticed that there are packets showing the machine is pinging for it's old address. I did a find for the old address and found it defined in the /var/opt/SUNWsymon/cfg/cfgserver-engines.dat file under the netloc entry. The program calling this file is called "esd" and resides under /opt/SUNWsymon/base/sbin/sparc-sun-solaris2.6/. My question is what is esd, why is it running? The documentation for symon which I found on docs.sun.com doesn't refer to "esd" in anyway. My problem is when I change the config file from the old IP to the new one I'll need to restart the program but I have no sm-control command to run as suggested in the docs. Can I just kill -HUP the esd PID and have it re-read the config files or what? d3funct
