We are setting up a solaris 8 system with SunScreen LITE 3.1 firewall. Having set up the rule-base, we get the logs filled with UDP and NETBIOS broadcast packet details, being accepted by the system even when explicitly denied ! In terms of the functioning of the firewall this is not too much of an issue, but it fills the logs up very quickly !
We have already configured the handling of broadcasts etc in /dev/ip with the NDD command as recommended in 'hardening' procedures, so it isn't that.
