On a BSD-derived system such as SunOS 4.x, there are many commands listing information about user logins, such as "last," "who," and "finger," but most truncate the DNS address field.

How can one get the full DNS address?

Hi 3333,

I am guessing (forgive me if I'm wrong) that you are trying to find the fully qualified domain name.
Try nslookup of the device for which you require the address.
The order in which a name is resolved is determined by the order within the /etc/nsswitch.conf file.

This info might be contained within all or some and not necessarily in this order.
/etc/hosts file
dns (from the primary dns server) and
NIS (from the NIS master)

You might also find it defined in the sendmail configuration file sendmail.cf (if sendmail has been configured).

Hope this can be of some help.

Cheers
Queenie.
