Well, there's two main problems:
My V280 has an RSC card, which asks fro login password, which we don't have. (retired long ago admin)
The instructions say to get a console using the Serial A port (a 25-pin jack). Using Hyperterminal i get no communication with it whatsoever. So, any other port other than rsc is not an option. I read somewhere on these forums a 2-way method for resetting the rsc, but it appears it won't do, since my server's amber led doesn't flash during poweron. And that's the one problem.

Then, we have this V480 which is missing a CDROM drive, and we ain't got another one compatible with it.
Tried to do installation through net (boot-device =net)
but the procedure that sun docs give has nothing to do with reality. Tried to make a cd image on another Sparc Solaris server, but even that operation failed.
I need to know if it's at all possible to boot using the usb device, thereby i can hook up an external cdrom drive to the usb port of the server and try it from there.
Has anyone done it?
Thanks in advance...
