Hi,

I have a Sunfire v100 server which doesnt have CD ROM and I want to install Sun Solaris 8 on it.

I have setup a Network boot server for it in a Red Hat Linux 9 m/c.

But when i give the following command at the OpenROM prompt

"ok boot net - install"

It gives me the following error:
---------------
TFTP Error: File not found
Boot load failed
---------------------
I can understand little bit that this is not able to find the right bootfile for the sun platform.

While creating the bootfile in the TFTP server under /tftpboot directory i have tried with the following platforms but it gives the same error:

sun4u
sun4d
sun4m

From my personal understanding I think Sunfire V100 should use "sun4u".

Please help.

Yes it's sun4u, I'm not familiar with Linux though.

Are both boxes on the same network segment ? This is a requirement.

Do you have rarpd, bootparamd, tftp-server packages installed on the Red Hat boot server? Are they started? tftpd runs under xinetd, so is xinetd running? NFS server running? Copy the boot image into the tftp directory?

Yes, I have ensured that tftp is properly configured and working and rarpd is also working and bootparamd is also working.

But it always gives me the same error of TFTP file not found.

I think it doesnt have network bootfiles for Sunfire v100

I am following this procedure for installing:
