We use a Sun branded QLogic 2 GBit HBA with SUNWqlc and SFS/SUNWsan in a Sun Blade 150 and an original JNI HBA with JNIC drivers in a Sun Blade 100 ... both are almost Ultra 5 ;-)
The SunBlade 150 does support fibre channel host adaptor.
You could try it on the ultra 5 but it will not be supported by Sun if a service call is placed.
Doesn't the HBA cost more than the Ultra 5? Why would you even consider doing this? The cost would be enormous to attach to a SAN for a $75 Workstation.
We have an Ultra-2 with two Emulex LightPulse 2000S HBAs connected to a SAN, and an Ultra 2 with a JNI FCE-1063 HBA. Both work fine and are a supported configuration by EMC.
Thanks for the replies!
and sorry for the loooong delay
well there are many things in a company that don't make sense
like spending £10,000 on a useless application
like having an enterprise volume manager on a SPARC ultra 5 etc
many things don't make sense
I just work here!
