Hi,
I am installing sun solaris 2.8 on PIII, 128MB ram Intel 810 chipset with 20 GB hdd and I am having Cirrus logic display card and Inter etherexpress pro 10/100 ethernet card. When I am installing machine after configuring the display card the machine is entering into windows and it is hanging. So I installed the machine in Command mode. After installation I configured the display card with kdm config I am getting windows and I am able to login also After logging into cde or openwindows if I open any application the machine is hanging. While booting I had seen a warning Cannot merge hwconf devinfo node fdc@1,3f0.
Is this warning anything related to this problem. Please give me some inputs and give me the solution to this problem. Please give me info on how to solve this problem. There are no irq conflicts on the machine also.

does it know about the cirrus logic card, or have you just placed the machine in simple svga mode?

from all accounts tho, it sounds like either solaris doesn't like your graphics card, or your card is at least partly faulty ... probably the former, but you never can tell ...

does your motherboard have the intel 810 video controller on it? if so there is now a driver patch to get this working.

when you log in, are you using CDE, or the Openwindows interface? (or even the other ones that come with 8)

hmm ...

hai jad,

It is identifying the cirrus logic graphics card, My Intel 810 motherboard is having inbuilt graphics card. If any driver patch is available for this please give me the link where i can download patch for this.
