Hello,

On Sun Solaris 8 (sparc), with the recommended patches, what is the maximun file size?

Thanks,

Michael42

I think the max file size default limit is 2 Gig. You can
get around this by entering command.

limit filesize unlimited

Actually the default is to hanlde files over 2GB for most utilities. There is a mount option (see [tt]man mount_ufs[/tt]) that specifies whether the filesystem being mounted can have "[tt]largefiles[/tt]" or not. The mount option is [tt]largefiles[/tt] or [tt]nolargefiles[/tt]. The option [tt]largefiles[/tt] is the default.

For more info, type: [tt]man largefile[/tt]

Hope this helps.
