Hello,

I have two Sun Fire V100 machines which I need to connect one to the other through serial port A and port B.

I managed to have a cable (with RJ-45 on both ends) plug from port B of the first machine to port A of the other machine. Then, I entered the command:
# tip hardwire

But nothing happens! It said "connected" but I cannot do anything further.

Can anybody help please?

Many thanks in advance.

archit;

you would need to cross over pins 3 and 6 on one end of the cable. So you would have a cable that goes;
V100A V100B
3 -> 6
6 -> 3
Below are the pin out for the V100 serial port.

Signal RJ45
RTS 1
DTR 2
TXD 3
Signal Ground 4
Signal Ground 5
RXD 6
DSR(DCD) 7
CTS 8

Also here is a good site for Serial information on sun systems.

Thanks
