Hi Guys
Just wondering if any one has had any experience with these addon cards.
Whats the performance like?
I know that I will not be able to play Doom 3 on it, but what about for applications.
Is it possible to play full screen DVDs with one of these cards?
What is the multimedia performance like?

The reason being, is I would like to get rid of my PC, for which I only use it more running DVD's and using programs such as ACID pro.
thanks

Hello,

I have a SunPCI card installed into an e250 server running SunRay Server. The card is running win2000 terminal server to serve the sunrays windows applications.

The performance is like a PC with the same ammount of MHz. The bennefits are that you share the disk drives, the fan trays, power supplies with the Sparc server, usually better than PCs, so you have all in one box and with good quality peripehals. The bad news come from flexibility, because with a PC you can add more PCI cards, change the graphic adapter, etc... you can partially upgrade when needed, etc...

Another thing to consider is that basically it's prepared to run Windows on it, so installing Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, etc... will be a "hard" work if possible!

I'm very happy with the card because for my needs it's OK, don't need extra space, I can forget about it once the startup and shutdown scripts are done, etc...

Hope this will help you. Bye,
