Sun One web server or Application server ?

Sun One 6.5 web server or Application server ?


i found weblogic is an application server. tomcat is also application server. JBoss is also application server

so who is the Web server ? i have got information that Apache is the web server.

does it mean there is one and only one web server exists in the world ?

all the application should we develope in a local application server and deploy in the Apache server ?

basically, i dont know if there are any other web server exists except Apache.

any information ?

J2EE Application Servers (JBoss / Sun One / WebLogic / Borland Enterprise Server etc) usually come with an embedded Web Server/ JSP Container ( Tomcat etc ).

they contains both ! thats why in references i find sometimes Sun One as webserver and sometimes as Application server. it was so confusing to decide which one is correct. but you told they contain both, integrated.

i dont know , but i think there would be two diffeent settings because when we test locally we need settings for app. server and when we need to deploy we need some other settings for the www. yhhhhhh.

I can only speak for Borland Enterprise Server and JBoss ... The J2EE server can be configured as to exactly which services are running within it. So the Web Container can be running or not; it's your choice.
