I have a Sun A1000 RAID array that had a bad battery. I got a replacement and shoved it in. It still shows as bad. Did I get a DOA replacement or is there something I have to do to tell the A1000 that this thing is new? Just checking before I start throwing parts at it.

Thanks,
Brian

Hi,

Have you checked what is going on using RM6? That should give you a good idea of what to do. Use the recovery guru to find out what is required.

Yeah RM6 says to replace it. I will be exchanging it for another one today. I was a little leery when the static bag wasn't factory sealed. Methinks someone gave me a previously found bad unit.

From the command line raidutil -c <device> -B to get the age the system thinks the battery is.

raidutil -c <device> -R

resets the battery age, but I'm not sure whether raid manager does this automatically through the recovery guru.

HTH anyway.

If I remember correclty I had to run the command line to clear the msg.
