I am conducting a mathematical calculation in one column that gives me numbers that can go out to a couple of decimals. I have asked to only view the whole number. (The numbers have to represent whole people) I want to sum the visible whole number, but Excel is summing the invisible decimal values too. I have tried using Round,Rounddown, and truncate, in various combinations, but they do not produce the desired result. (Rounddown and truncate eliminate some values altogether.) I'm also playing using Integer function, but have still run into some problems. Any ideas?

Hi mapsreport,

My best guess is that you are attempting to use the Round Function only on the SUM formula. Instead, you should create a formula (using the ROUND function) next to each of the numbers you are SUMing. (Hide that new column if necessary). Then SUM the new column.

I hope this resolves your problem. Please advise.

Go to Tools Options Calculation and check Precision as Displayed.

Dale Watson & tempclerk, Thanks for the suggestions. I had already used the Round function, etc on the cells with the calculations. I also experimented using the Round on the sum function cell alone and in combination. I just tried the Precision block in the Calculation folder of tools. I still get the same problem. Right now it looks like Integer with a little twist is as close as I can get to automating this.
