Summing a Query by month

I have specific dates (including day, month, and year) in a table with corresponding data. In a query, I wish to count this data for each month. For example, I want to have an individual count for each month Jan. through Dec.. How do I tell a query to separate these months and count according to them? Thanks for the help,

Create a Grouped Query (use the funny looking "E" on the toolbar: the Totals button)

Add the following to the Query:

Month: Month([NameofDateField)
IDField

Change the Group By of the IDField to Count

Run the Query
