Summary/Grouping question

I need to find some sort of way to use a sum distinct function in crystal. I have six lines of detail with one field being a summary field of one day, but repeats with all the detail of that one day. What I need is a summary by week.
Example
Date Type Daily avg
07/01/02 p 12
07/01/02 o 12
07/01/02 q 12
07/02/02 a 20
07/02/02 s 20
07/02/02 d 20
I want a two day total of 32 not 96 Thanks for any ideas

Make a formula that is equal to 0 if Previous(datefld) = datefld and is equal to the daily average otherwise. You want the sum of this new formula field.
