I am having problems with some of my SUMMARY fields being returned in a verity search. It is returning the summary with HTML code included, so it is not being displayed correctly. My results are being displayed in a table and the contents of the summary field (the HTML tags) are throwing off my table formatting. The pages in question don't have much actual text in them, so that's probably why the summary field is having problems.

I can think of two possible approaches:

1. Is there any way to "unformat" the data in the summary field so that it displays correctly?

2. Is there anyway to "force" or "influence" what verity will find as a summary?

Thanks!

You can do it either way.

output your summary with HtmlCodeFormat()

or (my favourite) Build a file parser that "reads" your html files into a dbase table, pull out all the HTML, CFML and "noise" words, then index the table.

There is a script here that already does that if you are interested.
