Hi,

I'm trying to organize data in Crystal 10 by month without using a crosstab or sub reports. It would look like this:

Jan. Feb. Mar. Apr. May

Resulttext 17 22 n/a 28 26

This is just an example, and the data would be for all 12 months but essentially each month would be a column. I know sub-reports can accomplish this but they tend to slow the processing time of the report on this particular system.

Any way to do this? Or do I need a later version of Crystal.

Thanks in advance,

jj

you can try running total by using formula for evaluating records.

Why are you avoiding using a crosstab? They are efficient. You could alternatively create a manual crosstab by using conditional formulas like:

if month({table.date}) = 1 then {table.amt} //Jan

Then insert a sum on this at the group level (what would be a row in a crosstab). If you have row inflation, you could instead use running totals with an evaluation formula like:

month({table.date}) = 1

I thought of using a crosstab, but the person asking me about this report wanted to see if it could be done another way. I only knew of using subreports or crosstabs, but I figured someone might know another method. Thanks for your help.
