Good morning,

I'm attempting to summarize a formula field. I've browsed various threads on here regarding this topic, and the closest I can find to my scenario is thread 767-1098983. However, I'm having some difficulty.

I am attmepting to summarize the duration of events that are calculated based on the difference between the minimum and maximum times of transactions associated with the events. I have that duration calculated in seconds. The duration is in Group Header 2 - which represents the events. Group Header 1 is the employee.

Thread 767-1098983 seems as if it would work if there was only one grouping. But in my case, I am grouping first by employee, then by event.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you are okay with showing the summary in the group footer or report footer, then you can use the method in the thread you referenced (by the way--don't put a space after the word "thread" and then the reference becomes a link). If you want the result in the group #1 footer, you would add a reset formula to the group #1 header:

whileprintingrecords;
numbervar x;
if not inrepeatedgroupheader then
x := 0;

For a report footer summary, you would use no reset.

Thank you very much. This worked perfectly. I was cleary over thinking this. Of course now that I have this data, I have all kinds of ideas about how to present different performance metrics. This is going to be fun and interesting. Thanks again.
