I'm creating a report in Impromptu v7.0. I have summaries for each grouped column in my footer. My question is: How do I put a description of what that summary is. For example:

Product Employee State Value Qty
A Bob IL $100 10
IA $200 20
_________________________________________
$300 30

How can I have a description identifying the summary column as total for Employee or total for Product?

Thanks

You should have 2 footers, one for employee, one for product. If you don't have these make sure you add them.

Then add a text box and a variable title to each footer.

Something like "Employee name", actual employee name (from the database), subtotal (which is already there by the sounds of your post.)

When the frame prints it will print all 3 fields.

Hope I helped
Bruce

I figured out how to do the text box - but how do I get a variable title (actual employee name from database)?

Thanks

From the menu "insert", there are many types of inserts, chose data (I think it's data- my memory is old & I don't have the software here)and insert into the proper subtotal footer. The varible you insert is the exact same field as you used in the above sample to get "Bob" to print. You just have to stick it into the subtotal box.

Cheers
BR
