Suming Time fields

I have two fields Start and Stop they are both Short Date Fields
I am trying to subtract start from stop and put the differance in an other field that is a general number field with both tableand properties are set to 2 decimals,
I have tried several differant approaches but I am not able to get any thing to the right of the decimal piont to display and if use this field in a subform on the display to be totaled totals are only the whole numbers.

"Short Date" supports only Days (whole Numbers). You would need to change the data(sub)type tosupport the 'time' (or decimal) part.

My error I m\had them set to short time

then, it is obviously that little devil (always residing in the (unshared) details, so I, at least, cannot offer any further assistance.
