Sum for sub report and report

I am in the manufacturing business and have created a report to show the processes a job goes through with minor descriptions and cost with a total for all the process dollars.

The sub report is for the raw material used in the job, the material cost is listed and totaled. What I have been unable to do is run a grand total for the job.

Is there a process for writing an expression to total the report and sub report? Appreciate any insight.

Control source for a text box in the main report footer:

=[process cost]+[subMaterial].Report![material cost]

[Process cost] being the name of the control in your main report that holds the sum of your process costs.

subMaterial being the name of your sub-report

[material cost] being the name of the control in your sub-report's footer
