I tried this and it seems to work.
1. Create running sum in detail for Column1 called, say SumCol1. It can be hidden, if you wish.
2. Put a text box in the page footer and set the Control Source to =[SumCol1]
This sums for each page, assuming Column1 is a numeric field.

thats exactly what i did if u read my other thread (2 below). I just can't belief such an important function, necessary in nearly all reports has be tacled in such a manner...terrible...
You see my detail section is quite thin, for presentation purposes. SO Now I have loads of hidden boxes in that section which is so difficult to handle...oh well..
