I have a spreadsheet with 36 columns of data. The rows will vary in the spreadsheet. I want Excel to total each column in the top row of the sheet. How can I do this without each time selecting the data in the column and autosum.

can't you just put in the formula =sum("A1:A65536")?

Say row 1 has the totals for each column.

in cell A1. Put in =Sum("A2:A65536")

when ever data in rows 2 through 65356 is inputted then the sum should automatically include it in its calculation.

I was going to do that. I just thought that maybe there might be an easy was a way to have Excel recognize how many rows contained data and sum those. Thanks for the suggestion.

=SUM(A:A)
