Hello,

I would like to know if it is possible to sum a value for an unbound field on a report.

I have several groupings in my report, and one of those fields is 'qty' and the control source for that field is '=Count([cabinet Id])'

Now in the report footer I would like '=sum ([qty])' , I have tried many different ways and it keeps poping the parameter value box when I run the report.

Does anyone know how I could do this?

Apparently Qty is a control, not a field. There is a huge difference. You can sum or count or average a field but NOT a control. Can't you just use:
=Count([Cabinet])
rather than summing the control. If not, you can create a similar control to =Count([Cabinet]) and name it txtMyCount. Set its Running Sum to Over All and then add a text box in the report footer with a control source of:
=txtMyCount
