We are looking for a best fit backup scenario. Locally we have 8 servers, some are windows servers some are novell. They all back up to various tape drives using arcserve. Now we have nothing against arcserve, but are looking possibly at some sort of storage area network solution. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I think that Legato will be the best in Backup/Restore for a SAN enviroment.
Legato is the best tool in LAN free or Serverless Backup.
With the DDS Option (Dynamic Drive Share)it will be able to backup to your tape drive you already have. You can put them whereever you want, behind a FC/SCSI Bridge or directly per SCCI at the Backup client (than it has to be a Storage Node).
Go to their web site and check out what the have to say about SAN Solutions.
