Gents;

I'm trying to connect some HP 1020 laser printers to a TCP/IP print server w/usb interface. So far - not working! This model printer is a GDI printer meaning that it receives it graphic commands from the host.

If I have several laptops printing to this print server driven device, shouldn't the HP print driver on the laptop provide the proper printer stream?

Anyone ever try this or have a solution as to how to make this work?

Thanks all -

How are you setting it up in the OS? and what OS are you using? If XP, when you add the printer, don't use add network printer. You want to choose local printer, and uncheck the box for detect my printer. Click next. Choose create a port, and from the drop down choose standard tcp/ip port. Next.

From here, it's simply a matter of putting in the ip address of the print server,at add port.choose next. In additional port information, from the drop down, choose the print server you have. If it is not listed, choose generic.

Click next until it asks about the printer driver, and from the drop down select the hp from the list. It will ask if it should use the existing driver, choose yes. click next until it finishes up and test it out.
