I recently took a course on Querying Microsoft SQL server with transact SQL and I want to continue practicing this at home. I would appreciate suggestions on what version of SQL to install on my XP Home Edition PC. I suppose at a minimum I need is a database or the ability to create one, enterprise manager and Query Analyzer.

Thanks

developer addition is the only one you might be able to install that will meet all your requirments. msde does not have em or qa. none of the full ones(standard or enterprise) instal on client os's. developer addition would be your best option. i just looked and personal addition might meet your requirements.

Developer edition will work for you, and should be included with the book that you got with the class.

I found a copy of the Developer Edition and it will suite my needs perfectly.

The version that was included with the book I revived in class was the Evaluation Edition that expires in 120 days.
