I am planning on implementing a new backup server w/ attached RAID subsystem, LTO autoloader, DVD+R and standalone LTO so that I can restore, backup, burn to DVD and do disk-to-disk backups all from the same machine.
I am very interested in using SQL in place of Arcserve's VLDB but needed to know if this was a worthwhile upgrade. I have had a LOT of problems in the past with the database, it's speed and my ability to scan and merge tapes without the DB crashing.
Can a SQL DB be used as a central DB for Arcserve backups at other locations while they still maintain the native Arcserve backup?
