Trying to come up with ideas to start getting others on my team to troubleshoot this particular printer. But, I am used to FIXING the printer, not breaking them so my mindset is already skewed.

Any ideas/suggestions how to introduce problems that are fixable? I did go to the LJU on this model, but I don't remember the problems that the instructors induced, the only things I have seen since then have all been relatively benign fixes.

Keep old parts; crappy fuser rollers, etc. Let an old cartridge sit in the sun for a few hours, and throw it in there.

It really depends on how "broke" you want it... simple stuff (paper jams, fuser rollers, OPC drum problems, etc) are easy enough.... more complex problems (such as unplugging the fuser assembly so that it gives a fuser error, or disconnecting the control cable to the circuit board) would, of course, be more complex to troubleshoot.

... a piece of paper stuck in any of the half-dozen optic sensors for paper positioning would be enough to send most people screaming .... :)

Not sure if you can apply these as I'm not familair with the printer ....Scotch tape in a fuse holder can make a fuse check ok with a meter but still induce a problem as it insulates it, very hard to find. Something in the laser writing path maybe. Load the paper cassette with paper that has streaks or spots preprinted on it, glue the edges of the paper. I could have fun with this !

You're evil. Hehehe....

It reminds me of a time when I worked as a technician for a video arcade. This one old space invaders game had broken down for the final time... the boss told me to take it and roll it out next to the dumpster. I asked him if I could take a sledgehammer to it first.

Very therapeutic, I might add... after fixing them for all that time, to turn one into toothpicks. :)
