Are any of you using handhelds and IP Softphone? If so, which ones? Have you experienced problems with a particular model?

I loaded Avaya IP softphone a while back. I bought a decent headset, but the calls still sounded bad even after calibratig with the software. I was told by someone that it is the sound card in my laptop.. I since stopped using it.

I tried a USB handset that my Cisco sales rep gave me when we piloted CCM. Sorry but I can't remember the make or model but it worked fine with both the Avaya and Cisco softphones.

I definately prefer the 2 ear Plaintronics foldable headsets to the USB handset.

Plantronics DSP-400 works great for softphone. I tried plantronics new usb bluetooth headset and hated it. What ever you use it must be USB or quality will suffer.

We have the clarisys I750 in use. The quality is very good.
With the integrator plugin, it is very user friendly.

We also tested Plantronics DSP-400, and agree that also this one has a good quality.

In general, I would recommend to always use headset or handset with USB interface. This way you 're independent of the (different) PC(s) and/or laptop(s) sound card(s) and when you always use the same model, you can inform your users about the right settings (volume and micro) to guarantee good quality.

I use Avaya's softphone with a Plantronics DSP-100 USB headset and have been pretty happy with it.
