I was curious if anyone had any suggestions on getting better performance out of my Cable MODEM, which uses a dial-up upstream and cable downstream. ----------------------------------------

Cable down/DUN up?!?!

My suggestion: Get another service :]

I've had one way service through Charter Pipeline for over a year. If you have one computer, it'll work fine. Download speed is better that dialup but not comparable to DSL or regular cable. But if you're trying to share a connection with multiple computers, forget about it. It's gonna be next to impossible to get the 2 NIC in your computer to communicate correctly.

I going to set up a network soon so i'm going to cancel my service and go back to dialup. :( Bellsouth offers DSL in my area but i can't justify paying $50 for an ISP right now.
