My client at the motel has a restaurant 25 yards away from the Partner system. Old setup with paved parking lot. There are no cables from the motel to the restaurant. Right now the phone company has a POTS line coming to motel and restaurant with the same number on it. I guess they have this bridged together at the pole or something? I will be plugging this line into the Partner at the motel, how could I get an extension to the restaurant. Would a transtalk work? Very simple setup so could I use a cordless phone with an extra base? Thanks!

If you were looking for a wireless solution, you should use the 3910 (Transtalk is no longer supported). Otherwise, if you could find where the junction for the dialtone line is (in NID or splice case) and find and verify a spare pair from the Partner to this splice, you could send a single line ext to the restaurant (or if you are lucky, there may be at least two pair to this splice, and you could send a system set out there). If you use wired phones, use IROB protectors to protect both system and phone. Good luck!

So the line going to each building would have to be spliced locally, right? I mean they couldn't be tied together back at the telephone company's local NOC (or whatever they are called)? Could it be done up on the telephone pole?

you would have to request "dry pairs " from the telco and pay a monthly fee.

I would have the customer bite the bullet and pull cable for voice and fiber for data

spend the money , do it it right to start

I agree with skip. Best would be to pull a new wire; however, you could use a standard cordless phone with two bases. Many of the new cordless units come with multiple chargers and 1 base. I wouldn't guarentee it, but the customer could go buy a nice cordless phone set at Sam's or Walmart for $100.00 Install, the base as close to the restaurant and try the cordless over in the restaurant. The customer will not have all the features and will need to learn how to use the flash key to transfer. It's cheap but not ideal.
