We are shop running Windows 2003 Exchange, Office and Server. What I am looking for an a desktop search tool that our users can use to find documents containing certain text on select drives. We currenly have an old tool called WorlDox and are looking for a replacement. WorlDox requires a seperate sever. Any suggestions will be greatly appriciated.

Are you looking for a Enterprise Search tool, or a desktop search tool? Somewhat different things. Since you are a Microsoft shop, you might look at their Enterprise Search offerings. There is a free "Express" version that comes with Server 2008 that would probably suit your needs if you are a small shop. The standard version simply adds load balancing features, etc. SharePoint can do it as well, but you would have to purhcase it; the free version of SharePoint does not include the Enterprise Search feature.

FloDiggs, thanks for the reply and link. I checked out the link and think we might be able to try the Express version to see how it performs.

We primarily search a couple of shared drives and we are all using thin clients to attach to the servers. Therefore, an enterprise solution is the only one that will work.

Unfortunately, we have Windows 2003 except for SharePoint, which is v2000. From what I read on the link, we might have to upgrade the SharePoint version as well. We only use SharePoint for our Intranet at this time.
