Suddenly our SFT-III servers setup crashed. We are using Thomas Conrad MSL cards with UTP MSL cable.

The individual server comes up when mserver.exe is executed. The moment,MSL driver tries to load it gives the folowing message:-
MSL DriverSend Called when PacketSizeDriverCanNowHandle was -1.

However if we see the output of Modules coomand on the ioengine,it shows as the MSL driver loaded.Still the servers do not synchronize when "activate server" is done.

Any one having idea what is meant by the above message?

Thanks in Advance.

What version of NetWare are you running? Have you updated to the latest Support Pack for your version of Operating System?

Please advise.

It is Netware SFT-III ver 4.11. It was working all right till a few days back.

The easiest way to check the status of the MSL link it to type 'config' at each IOEngine. The config will list the MSL driver and then give a status of the driver. If there is no communication, the status will report, "startup".

Startup means that the driver was properly loaded, but that the cards cannot talk to each other. If the cards could talk, a message would have flashed by at the console saying that the MSL link was active; and the config would report a status of "active" for the MSL link.

Check the cables, cards, and connectors for the MSL cards. Sometimes a bad light emittor will be the cause this problem if fiber optic MSL cards are used.

Lastly, have you updated the Servers to the latest Support Pack?

Good Luck!
