Sudden Slow Backup Jobs

I've been using ARC serve for months now with no problems. My weekly back up usually takes around 16 hours for 170GB and a nightly differental takes roughtly 6hrs for 70GB.

Now all of a sudden my ACR serve is crawling. I mean my night backups now take 14+ hrs and the weekly back is still going after 28 hours. Whats going on? I have not changed anything on the server.

The only thing which occured was I put in an old tape from 2 weeks ago (have used it many times) and left it as <dismounted> by accident. The ACR serve Mounted the tape and that is where everything began. ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Have you rebooted the server since? Tried and ARCserve re-install? It doesn't make sense that the backup would just slow down on it's own like that. Is this all a local backup or backup of a remote server?

Long shot but may be worth looking into.

What anti virus product do you run ? I've had a similar problem as you when we put in a new EPO AV server and the policies were slightly different from usual. I'm not too sure how but this crucified our backup times with an overnight backup taking upto 44 hours to complete !!! One simple change of the AV policy and it was back to normal again.

We use Netshield with Groupshield for exchange. I only have inbound files check as outbound was making it slow a while back. It seems to have gotten a little better speed wize but now I notice that I have my job set for 7:00pm and the log reads it started at 7:36 or yester it was set for 7pm and the log read 8:52. I think I'm in the twilight zone.
