My original setup was a wireless G router [version 3] i beleive. I updated all the firmware and everything was working fine for months. I am currently only useing the wired connections
Suddenly now the main computer that is always on loses its IP address. If I reset the router things will work fine for a while.
I thought maybe the router was the problem so I installed an old B router. I still have the same problem.
Resetting the router fixes this problem but of course is annoying to have to do.
the only recent change [which was at least a month beofre the probelm hapened] was I moved the location of the router.
the machine I am working on is XP pro with all the latest updates.
could it be anything besides the routers being bad? I would hate to buy a new one to have the same problem.

Seems that your Router is not renewing the lease..when you reboot the router it simply reaquires a new lease.
If I reset the router things will work fine for a while.
. MAKE SURE it is set to AUTO RENEW... It might also pay to reFlash the firmware...
