I have a micro-motherboard without an AGP slot. I have been using a geforce 5200 pci card but I am wondering if there is any way i can still use an AGP card. The PCI card doesn't do very will gaming-wise and I was wondering if there is a way around this so that i can use an AGP card.

tylerdurDAN,

There's really no such thing as an external AGP slot. Either your motherboard has an AGP port or it doesn't.

Look on the "TomsHardware" site. They may have a recommendation for a PCI card that does what you need.

Another thread was mentioning a GeForce 5750 PCI I think. This would be the most powerful 3D graphics card on the market. What is the CPU speed on your micro-motherboard?

Mini or Micro ATX?
The reason I ask is if it's Mini there are lots of pretty cheap replacement motherboards out there WITH AN AGP slot and to be honest with you, by the time you have shelled out for an overly expensive underperforming high end PCI card, the price differance between that and a middle ranking AGP card and a new motherboard is minimal.

Something like:

And say a Radeon 9600Pro/XT

I usually get this suggestion totally ignored so feel free to follow suit. It's just as a system builder myself I don't see any big deal in swapping out the mainboard to improve overall performance and enhance graphics performance.
Better than struggling along with an inherently flawed system (flawed for your intended use)

If Mini? well thats a differant kettle of fish.

So to answer the question, there is no way to use an AGP card without replacing the motherboard.
