Hi guys

I am a complete novice in 3d studio and all i am really using it for is to create meshed to render in some software i am writing.
I have a teapot and I want to delete everything apart from the spout and bit of pot that the spout goes into. I also have a big box containing the bit of pot I do not want. How do I sutract the box from the pot?

Thanks

A simple way to do this would be to convert everything to an editable mesh (depending on what version you have -- either Right-click on the object and you should have the option to Convert to editable mesh, or it will be under the modifier panel)

Once you have the object converted, you could then select the individual faces and delete them.

There is probably a simpler way, but I don't have Max in front of me right now and that is what comes to mind.

Hope this helps.

Hi Roaders,
Try using 'Boolean' method from 'Compound Objects' to substract one from the other.
Deleting faces from editale mesh may sometime put you in trouble while redering. It may lead to rendering the open or broken faces.
With all the best wishes.
